Free agent Chad Pennington will require surgery to repair a torn ACL after suffering the injury in a basketball game.
It wasn't for bad luck, he'd have no luck at all. Pennington was just getting close to full health after a fourth shoulder surgery. He won't be ready for the start of the 2011 season, which makes it unlikely that he'll sign by the end of the summer. SI's Peter King suggests Pennington was on several teams' radars as a veteran bridge to a developmental QB

Yeah that's a tough break for him.
I personally didn't want Pennington competing for starting QB or for that matter I don't really want him on the roster at all. Coach? Yes. Player, no. Too injury prone and no arm. I'm grateful to him for the one season he gave us when he took us to the playoffs but those days are history.
