:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: BAD NEWS Chuck! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
NFL Rumors: MIAMI DOLPHINS NOT SEEKING NEW GM
(not that this isn't/wasn't predictable but.....)

The Miami Dolphins have a massively important off-season ahead of them. They last won a playoff game in the year 2000, and their fan-base is at an all-time high for anger/disgust/frustration.

Dolfans want General Manager Jeff Ireland fired. They do not want Ireland making the decisions on how to spend the free-agency money that they have this off-season, plus they do not want him running their draft.

Word out of Florida is that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross met recently with Mike Giddings Jr. of Pro Scouts INC. There are some that feel the meeting did take place, and there are others who insist that there was no meeting. I would say that even if there was a meeting it could have been just Ross picking Giddings’ brain and getting player personnel evaluations from a person who is respected in the field.

It does look like Ireland will run the Dolphins 2013 draft.

Word is that Bill Parcels ran much of Ireland’s first Dolphins draft in 2008. The best player landed that year was #1 overall pick Jake Long who may be done in Miami, but he was very good while he was a Dolphin (there is certainly a chance that Long does re-up with Miami, but that article is for another day!). Of the other eight players drafted by Miami that year, Chad Henne had the best NFL career (yikes).

Ireland had mixed results in 2009. He drafted Vontae Davis and Sean Smith to be the #1 and #2 cornerbacks going forward, and also Pat White to run their wildcat. Davis was underwhelming overall, and Miami has a big decision to make regarding Smith as he is a free-agent (again, that article is for another day…Recently I did get a Reggie Bush free agency article up, and it is HERE).

White did not work out, nor did Patrick Turner, but the middle-late rounds did produce Brian Hartline and Chris Clemons. Hartline is, you guessed it, a free-agent so he is another player we will monitor to see if his Dolphins days are done.

2010 may go down as a great Dolphins draft. Surely improvements are needed from all of these guys, but they have all shown they have the potential to contribute on the NFL level. Jared Odrick, Koa Misi, John Jerry, Nolan Carroll, and Reshad Jones were five of Ireland’s first six picks in ’10.

2011 landed Mike Pouncey, but it was full of swing-and-misses like trading up to draft Daniel Thomas, Edmond Gates, Charles Clay, Frank Kearse, and Jimmy Wilson.

In 2012 Ireland drafted Ryan Tannehill with the #8 overall pick. I felt that the roster had (has) so many holes that Ireland needed to trade down to add extra assets, and if he had to he could land Tanny later in the draft (NFL GM’s were not clamouring to draft Tannehill. All due respect to the young man, but he was never the #8 pick in that draft).

The rest of last years draft was full of ups and downs. Jonathan Martin is going to be a legit NFL offensive-lineman, and Olivier Vernon will have a chance to build on his 3.5 rookie sacks. The jury is still out on Lamar Miller, but if I was not a fan of his from the University of Miami days then I would likely consider him a poor prospect.

Michael Egnew, Josh Kaddu, B.J. Cunningham, Kheeston Randall, and Rishard Matthews all look like they are not legit NFL players/talents.

Word is that Ireland’s job is safe, and he will run Miami draft in 2013. Miami has five picks in the first three rounds so they are set up to add legit talent. Dolfans are hoping Ireland will be significantly better than he has been lately.

If ya read the Sun Sentinel columns and the posts underneath them there are a 30 to 45%  groupof Ireland apologists/supporters out there. I don't support Ireland by any means he's hit a few decent 2 and 3 baggers but he's short on imagination and creativity. C Wake was a home run even I'll admit that but not getting a WR last off-season is a solid FAIL! It's unconscionable by my book. He could have and should have done SOMETHING to fix the hole left by the traded Marshall. He did NOTHING. Naane is = to nothing!

I love that paragraph. I like Tannehill simply because I have hope. I know hope is a dangerous thing or so I've been told. I guess he'll get at least one year with some better receivers and perhaps a better line to aid him in his improvement. A better run game will augment his QB rating a lil' bit; wouldn't hurt. I really hope he does improve.  But for him to improve the accuracy needs a lot of work. Confidence is very important in that department. I think he needs to gain some forgetfulness b/c after he threw a pic he would be way too overcautious and THEN his game suffered.   GO MIAMI!

Keep up the good work Matt Moore!

You have hope and the glass you have that's half full just spilt.

Sorry Fish, here is my thoughts. First off "giving" Tannehill a better run game?
Seems to me the Phins had a pretty good run game early in the season, teams were focused more on
this new 1st round gunslinger of a QB instead, BUT then teams learned this new guy couldn't throw
very accurate so therefore we can bring the safties up and stop their run like we've been doing for the last
400 years or so......A great QB throws accurate almost all the time, Tannehill seems to throw 1 or 2 a game
worth noting. You can't coach that, either you gotz it or you don't. I'm afraid he don't. He doesn't have
the long ball touch a QB needs to be successful. He scares no one now. He's another dinker and the more
he plays you will see him dink, dink, dink.......He's Chad Henne with better run abilities, and yea running the
ball for first downs on occasion can be big, but we've seen what happens to QBs on the run. QBs need to create
a better run game not be given one. In Marino's case, he never had one, which always baffled me, meanwhile
John Elway made RB star after star in Denver. Maybe in Marino's case, pass blockers were looked for regardless
of run blocking skills? IDK, that's a whole other topic.

Better Receivers? I guess Tannehill over throwing guys like Greg Jennings or Mike Wallace might look better
but that will probably bring the same results. I don't call him "3 and Out Tannehill" for nuttin!
Look at all the guys Brady, Marino, Elway etc made stars. Once again, a good QB needs good receivers, a GREAT
QB makes GREAT receivers. WE NEED GREAT, sick of settling for good.

Better Line? Yea well, Tannehill on many occasions made his line look bad by not making NFL decisions. Instead he
was hopping up and down making Texas A&M decisions.....SACK!.....BALL BATTED DOWN!.....INTERCEPTED!!!!!!!!!
Maybe he can improve with that one, but a better line won't help his lack of quick decision....look again at the
Chad Henne resume, very simular to watch. Isn't it funny how Texas A&M seems to have improved AFTER the
departure of Ryan Tannehill and Mike Sherman? Wow, just kinda....Nice going Ireland, looks like you bought a
little more time, but after another 5-11 season in 2013.......U OUTTA HEA!

You make some good points Chuck. Lets see what Irehole does with his draft picks. WHat he does for a back up QB b/c I doubt Moore is going to want to ride the pine next year. I think Moore was a better QB and should have been allowed to start in the first game. Not that he's Marino but we weren't bad with him in the saddle in 2011. Seeing Tannehill perform in 2012 If I am GM I draft another QB in the first 3 or 4 rounds but I am really just sick that Ireland is still GM. Sick. i just read an article that ross says he wants stability in his org and thats why irehole gets the nod. I guess we are just doomed.

The funny thing is, the stadium is constantly empty for home games. I think that's the tell all story for the state of your
franchise. Just seems to me there is no stability in empty seats. I guess everything business wise falls on Ross, and he's
not making very good business decisions right now.

The franchises fall is 100% on Wayne. Sure Ross is a dolt and a dullard at "football team owner." He wants to be a good owner but his motives may not be pure ie his need to schmooze with the celebs and VIP's but H Wayne Huiz knew who and what Ross was when he sold the team to him but with HWH money came first, power a close second. HWH did not care what happened to the team after he sold it. He just wanted to be known  as the "good owner who stayed out of the coaches way. He wanted to call all the shots; Hire and fire the coaches - to have or not to have a strong GM. Getting Shula to step down was his only correct move and then it all went downhill after that. He went wrong when he hired JJ. Instead he should have hired the very best GM & football expert available and then gotten out of THAT GUYS way. Let HIM hire the coach!.But as we all know that was NOT Wayne and thats why we are what & where we are today. I just hope Philbin improves as coach and we are very wrong about Ireland. Either that or Ireland gets lucky. Skill and knowledge and business acumen are important as a GM but in the NFL, finding talent can be a hit and miss thing where luck can play a big role. You cant rely on luck alone but then you cant be successful w/o it.
